Going Gaga

When Lady gaga hit the scene a few years ago with her first songs like “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich” and “Just Dance”, it seemed that she was just young woman with a great voice and an awesome song.

Fast forward to 2011 and she’s showing up at the Grammy awards inside of an egg.

Some could say things got interesting and even unusual with Gaga’s “Bad Romance” music video, and then even more so with “Alejandro.”

Lady Gaga is now in the spotlight again (as if she was ever out of it) with her new single, Born This Way released on Friday. Just the audio alone of the new song has hit over 9 million views on YouTube, and Lady Gaga, who has been the most-followed person on Twitter with some 7 million followers jumped to over 8 million followers.

Some love the song, some hate the song, some compare it to Madonna’s “Express Yourself.”

While Lady Gaga’s hatching from an egg to do her performance at the Grammy’s got applause and cheers from what was undoubtedly her adoring fans, it received criticism as well. Some called the entrance pretentious, and a ploy to get attention.

Whatever the case, or whatever Lady Gaga’s intention may be, she certainly has gained a great deal of attention. Furthermore, as reported in the Chicago Tribune, Lady Gaga admitted to smoking weed and drinking whiskey while writing music. We have to ask what kind of attention THIS will bring? Outrage, or support for fans who admire her honesty?

I’m interested in what readers of Megan’s Musings think. What did you think of Gaga’s “Born This Way”? And what did you think of her eggs-travagant entrance at the Grammy’s? Leave me a comment and share your thought!
